A COVID-19 Miracle
By Elisa Caleb, West Region of the London International Church of Christ
“I will say of the LORD, ‘He is my refuge and my fortress,
my God, in whom I trust.’”
Psalm 91:2
In March 2020, Sarisa Harvey’s husband, Douglas, developed a cough. He went to the hospital to have it checked after a few days of it not getting better; and was admitted immediately for further tests.
With Douglas being the sole breadwinner for his wife and three-year-old son, it wasn’t easy for him to be off work. Sarisa was shocked when, only three days later, Douglas was diagnosed with COVID-19 and was moved into the intensive care unit in a coma. It all happened so fast.
Douglas’ condition worsened as doctors noted that his body wasn’t accepting the medication and, due to his diabetes, there was little they could do for him. Eventually Douglas’ kidneys stopped functioning and he was put on life support with the doctors giving him only a 10% chance of survival. In fact, after two weeks of being in ICU, his prospects got so dim that the medical staff told Sarisa that if Douglas didn’t improve within 24 hours, they would need to take him off his ventilator.
Sarisa knew that the only thing that would save her husband was prayer. Disciples from all around the world—in India, Dubai, Europe and the U.S.—had been praying for Douglas. And with this news, even more prayers went up for him.
Sarisa’s hope, however, was waning thin. Yet she held on to Psalm 91 and put her trust in a God who could heal a bleeding woman when doctors could not; a God who could even raise people from the dead (Luke 8:40-56). She was also comforted and strengthened by the prayers, texts and support she received from many Christians who were battling in prayer with her.
The following morning, Sarisa got a call saying that Douglas had started breathing by himself! In less than 24 hours Douglas began improving. Then, after just four days he was released from the hospital and sent home! Sarisa was thrilled to have her husband back. God gave her a miracle and helped her faith to become stronger and more sincere.
Douglas is now 100% better and is back to work. Douglas and Sarisa are thankful for all the prayers and support they received from many disciples all around the world.
Douglas is British and was baptised in the Baltimore church in the U.S. in 2002. Sarisa, who is Thai, was baptised in Bangkok, Thailand, in 1992. They have been married since 2012.

Granny Lola - Island Region, Lagos - I thank GOD for sparing Douglas' life. I joined in prayers with other disciples for him. Our GOD is a great GOD. Our TRUST will continue to be in the words of Psalm 91. It's a great scripture passage.

Tina Narvasa - Wow so amazing to hear that good news! Truly a miracle! I also saw the post in ICOC facebook page, prayed for Douglas and followed his situation til I lost track. And now hearing he's 100% healed made me more amaze with God's power in prayers. Thanks for the inspiration!

Tammy Fleming - I prayed for Douglas!! It’s wonderful to be part of a miracle of God! I’m thrilled our brother Douglas is well again and restored to his family, who clearly need him for a while longer
