Psalm 55:17 Evening, morning, & noon I cry out in distress & he hears my voice.
Who doesn’t love to be listened to with interest and compassion? Who doesn’t feel good when someone seems to just understand what they are going through even without having to speak so much by way of explanation?
The psalmist was so sure that God will hear his voice whether it’s evening, morning or noon. In another verse it says God turns his ear towards us (Psalm 116:2).
Do you feel God paying attention to you while you are speaking with Him in prayer or even as you pour out your thoughts to Him? Do you realize that God can hear even your silence?
I distinctly remember having spent time praying to God as a young girl but feeling like He is so far away and not interested in listening to me. In order to overcome this false belief, I had to go through a process of understanding God as He is and not as how I perceive him to be based on my interactions with people of authority in my life as I was growing up. I now am so sure of God hearing my thoughts and my unspoken words even as the Holy Spirit expresses for me (Romans 8:26).
Yes, God is powerful, but he is also full of love and he is interested in our thoughts and feelings. He wants to be in a growing relationship with us that will take us closer to him. He is looking for anyone who is eager to know him (Psalm 53:2).
So today…let the scriptures reassure you that God hears you. He listens to you and pays attention to you because he loves you deeply. If, on your part, there is something that is making you feel like hiding from God, confess it because He knows it anyway and pour out your heart to God. He can handle anything.
