The International Women’s Day Theme for 2022 is “Knit Together” from Colossians 2:2
By the ICOC women’s service team
Deborah, Rahab, Esther, Mary, and Lydia are just a few among the multitude of women in biblical history who were integral to God’s plan and instrumental in building His kingdom. The role of women is no less important today. Women have informed and shaped civilizations past and present, and increasing recognition is being given to their invaluable contributions.
Tuesday, March 8th, is this year’s International Women’s Day. For the last several years, it has been our practice in the ICOC for the Women’s Service Team to manage the task of choosing a unifying theme. This year, the theme chosen by a consensus of Regional Church Family Chairwomen is KNIT TOGETHER from Colossians 2:2:
“I want them to be encouraged and knit together by strong ties of love. I want them to have complete confidence that they understand God’s mysterious plan, which is Christ himself.” (NLT)
During this time of recognition and remembrance, we invite all to pray, fast, and find ways to serve across all of our women’s ministries around the world. In order to organize our efforts, we ask that the following hashtags be used in all photos of women’s events in 2022 so we can view them all in one place: #knittogethericoc, #unitedinloveicoc (some foreign language translations do not have “knit together” in Colossians 2:2, so some languages will use “#unitedinloveicoc), and #icocwomen.
We have a rich tradition of faith-building women’s events in our movement. You can see a sampling of recent ones at https://www.womentoday.international/womens-day.
Though the pandemic has brought many challenges, it also has taught us how to better use available resources to create exceptional International Women’s Day events. One such example is the March 6, 2021 event entitled “For Such A Time As This.” This online event, organized by ICOC-Jakarta for the Southeast Asian (SEA Region) family of churches, was attended by almost 4000 women. Other recent themes include #inhisimageicoc and #forsuchatimeasthisicoc.
The ICOC women’s website would love to help publicize before your women’s day event and share your good news with the world afterwards! Feel free to send us anything you’d like us to post at womensserviceteam@gmail.com.
We look forward to seeing how our Mighty God and Father will use our unified faith, love, and commitment to bring honor to Himself, joy and purpose to our worldwide sisterhood. To Him be all glory and power!
