Argentina
From Buenos Aires to San Luis, women in the churches in Argentina came together around the theme, “Unidas en Amor” (“united in love”), from Colossians 2:2.
Asia
Sisters from across Asia joined together in heart on March 8 for a day of prayer and fasting, with more than 3,600 sisters participating in an online prayer time. Then on Sunday, March 20, around 5,500 women tuned in to YouTube and Zoom for a virtual International Women’s Day event featuring seven young, dynamic women leaders from throughout Asia. Women participated from Bangladesh, Cambodia, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Nepal, Pakistan, Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Vietnam, and more. How inspiring to see women from so many different countries, cultures and social backgrounds “knit together in love” (Colossians 2:2-NASB). Canada
Sisters from the church in Hamilton, Ontario, hosted a virtual gathering for International Women’s Day. During the event, they collected donations for the Native Women’s Centre, an emergency shelter in Hamilton for women experiencing crisis in their lives. One highlight of the day: the sisters created a word cloud “dream board” expressing their ideas and dreams for serving God and their community.
El Salvador
The church in San Salvador, El Salvador, celebrated International Women’s Day with a women’s conference called, “Yo Creo” (“I believe”). Veronica Ortiz, the women’s ministry leader from the San Salvador church was the keynote speaker, with a lesson from Mark 9:23: “If you can?” said Jesus. “Everything is possible for one who believes.”
USA
Sisters in ICOC churches across the United States hosted many events to celebrate what God is doing through His people as Christian women unite together in love to serve God and our neighbors.
In the North Ministry of the Chicago Church, women collected more than $500 in gift cards, plus other needed items, to donate to a program that rescues girls and women from human trafficking.
In the Metro Ministry of the Chicago Church, both English- and Spanish-speakers came together for a bi-lingual devotional lesson led by Lila Harris, a women’s minister in Chicago’s Midpoint Ministry. Attendees donated items from the “wish list” of a local community organization that helps young mothers and their children who are experiencing poverty and homelessness.
