On March 4-6, 2021, the ICOC Teachers Service Team and the recently formed Teleios Society (https://www.teleiossociety.com) hosted a virtual international academic conference, entitled, Let Justice Roll. Blending speakers from the ICOC, mainstream churches of Christ, and faculty members from Pepperdine University, Abiliene Christian University, Brite Divinity School, Fuller Seminary, Harding University and Cornell University, and offering over fifty classes during the three-day event, the conference attracted approximately 800 participants from all over the world. Following are reflections from two women from ICOC churches who attended.
You can watch many of the classes at the www.teleios.com website (click the blue “Stream Videos” button when you get there).
The virtual conference "Let Justice Roll" was an important and meaningful time of learning and growing. The classes and topics were comprehensive in knowledge and depth of insight. Our teachers and speakers introduced material that was educational and incredibly eye opening, in powerful and practical ways. All in all, a great event to help promote the continual need for more awareness of racial injustice (past and present) in and outside the Church. As a woman leader in our fellowship of Churches, I am especially proud of Suzette Lewis, and her tireless work, not just on the Teacher's Service Team, but for justice and equality for people everywhere. We are truly seeing history in the making and God is honored by a fellowship that seeks scriptural justice.

I really enjoyed the evening with Fred Gray. As a public interest attorney myself, it has been very difficult to not become jaded and even more difficult to remember why I started. His life experience and continued faithfulness to God were encouraging and inspiring. It gave me the refresher I needed to keep going. It was also encouraging to see that I don’t have to keep both passions separate. My desire to be closer to Christ can and will fuel my desire to end the injustices of the world. I hope to emulate his conviction to root out segregation wherever he saw it, even in the church. I can’t wait to be able to say I kept the good fight both in my walk with Christ and in my profession fighting for justice. I look forward to future conferences such as these, and to having more of these conversations with my church family.
