Glimmer
Another Advent series for 2023
Traci Minor, California, USA
"We all know what the Christmas season can normally bring – But we are trying, we are endeavoring to make the choice to actually slow down, instead of speed up; we’re trying to reflect, instead of keeping ourselves busy, and allow God the opportunity to give us restoration of our soul through this time.”
These are the words of Traci Minor in the introduction to a weekly video series entitled Glimmer: Restoring the Weary Soul, which she and her husband Jay are producing this Christmas season as a resource for small groups.
In the first video, they explore one of the most beautiful images used to describe Jesus -- the light -- and discuss a practice to help us focus on the ways where we see Jesus showing up in our daily life to help us combat the negative triggers we may encounter.
Traci Minor has just released a devotional book, Advent, Restoring the Weary Soul. Her website Simply Holy Living promotes a community of women "striving to live a holy life in an unholy world." You'll find an invitation to annual Mothers and Ministry retreats there and loads of content: devotional series for different times of the year, spiritual disciplines, all kinds of inspiration for growing and deepening our intimacy with God.

About Traci Minor
Traci Minor has played the violin for over 45 years, been married for 29 years, been a mom for 23 years, and worked in the “full/part/extra-time ministry” for 19 years.
She bakes, practices yoga, preaches, reads books, plays music, teaches, tries to learn Spanish (a yearly endeavor), home-schools, cleans house, takes naps, picks up dirty socks, and trains children what feels like non-stop, every day. Her quest: to simply become holy. To live a life worthy of the calling we have received, in her words: "right in the middle of my average, everyday, messed up world; to open my hands and stop grabbing for more or “mine”; to let God direct my every step, bite, decision, and thought. I choose an open handed life. Won’t you join me?”

Vida - Thank you for this. In today's world of "hurry" it is such a small thing to pause and think about moments where God showed up. It takes effort and is so good for us. I love the practical for a group setting too—making sure we are heard, and that does restore our weary souls.
