Celebration of the International Day of Women – Lagos Nigeria
Lagos Nigeria: Inspired by the Biblical account of the conquest of Jericho by the Israelites as recorded in Joshua 6, about 100 women of the Ogba/Agegeregion of the Lagos church embarked on an 8-kilometer “Jericho Walk”. The walk took place on February 29th2020, as a prelude to their Women’s Day, which was scheduled to coincide with the celebration of the International Day of Women on March 8th. Preceded by ongoing prayers on a prayer chain, the sisters had beseeched God that the walk would serve as an avenue to generate awareness by inviting hundreds of women to study the Bible and attend the upcoming Women’s Day.
God blessed the walk as women and girls boldly shared their faith along the 8-kilometer stretch. There was much joy as 3 women who had been studying the Bible got baptized that week while 50 new Bible studies began with women who had been reached out to during the walk. The highly anticipated Women's Day finally arrived and God blessed the day, as 146 women had 276 in attendance at the event. To crown it all, 2 more women got baptized, bringing the total to 5 baptisms that week to God’s glory.
