Nusantara Women’s Day “For Such A Time as This”
Saturday, March 6th, 2021, GKDI Women’s Ministry held an event to celebrate International Women’s Day.
An event themed “For Such A Time as This” was inspired from the words of Mordechai to Esther when the Jews were in danger of being killed by Haman. This event was held in two sessions. The first session, which was held from 3:00 - 5:00 p.m. (GMT+7) was for Indonesian women only and delivered in Bahasa. The second one, held from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. (GMT+7), was delivered in English and was attended by women from the ICOC Southeast Asian Region, such as Malaysia, Singapore, Japan, Thailand, Vietnam, and Cambodia.
The participants were divided into 7 breakout rooms on Zoom, with the total number of participants reaching almost 3,000. In the first session, the devotional sharing was delivered by Indonesian Women’s Ministry leaders, Vania Salim, Suliana Alin, and Budiarti Silalahi. Then, in the second session, Angelia Phua Hee from Singapore and Jessy Tohme from Lebanon led those devotionals. Their sharing helped the women develop a deeper understanding of the story of Esther, a Jewish Queen of Persia. In conclusion, the women were reminded that everything in our life is not a coincidence, that it’s all God’s plan, to not fear and always know that we never walk alone, to believe in God’s providence, and to have faith that, in the end, God will win.
This event, conducted live in Menara Kuningan, Jakarta, was also loaded with performances from many amazing women. Together with the GKDI Song Ministry, Indonesian Idol finalists Regina Ivanova and Mikhaela Nowella led the worship of praise. Joy Tobing, another finalist of Indonesian Idol, also presented a song. And Ivana, the pianist, played a piece of instrumental music in this yearly event. On this very special day, the new logo and identity of the Women’s Ministry was officially launched.
Nusantara Women's day closed with the song “Say Yes” by Song Ministry. We were very excited to see the enthusiasm of the women who were inspired and strengthened by this event, which could be seen from their status updates on social media. This was also a refreshing moment, because, in the midst of the pandemic, women could still meet each other virtually, have a great fellowship, and encourage one another. We hope that more women were inspired by this event to know God more deeply. To God be the glory.
