The Gift of God’s Love
Eman Beiruti – Amman, Jordan
When reflecting on Christmas, the birth of Jesus the Saviour, what did Jesus leave behind on earth? What did He know, what did he choose to give up, to become the sacrifice for my life??? Jesus is the greatest gift, the most precious and perfect gift from the Father to all humanity. He came to bring us salvation and to grant us life. When I think about His giving and love, I ask myself: “What can I give back to You, Lord?” God answers me with every breath and whisper of the Holy Spirit within me, saying: “Give Me your heart and your life, and allow Me to be in control of everything you think, want, and do.” God sacrificed His Son for me and asked for my life and heart in return, while giving me freedom of will.
True love is an unconditional love for God, where I admit to Him my weakness, and I rely on Him because I know I cannot do anything on my own. I always pray, asking the Holy Spirit to give me strength and fill me with His fruit of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, humility, and self-control. May He give me wisdom and open my heart and mind to know Him and glorify Him in all that I do. I know He is with me and will never abandon me. His promise is always true: "I will never leave you nor forsake you" (Hebrews 13:5). His promise is also: “This is the love of God: to keep His commands. And His commands are not burdensome” (1 John 5:3).
God’s love gives us life, helps us endure challenges, and creates joy even amidst difficulties. I realize this truth when reading Paul’s words in Romans 8:38-39, saying that nothing, whether death or life, angels or demons, present or future, powers, height, depth, or any other creation, can separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Let us reflect together:
1. How can we live as a reflection of God’s love?
2. How can we fully experience the conditional yet unconditional love of God?
3. How can we translate His love into practical, tangible actions?
4. Finally, let us also reflect on His commandment: Love one another as I have loved you. How can we love one another, support one another, and work together to fulfill the needs of those around us?
