Silvia Mendez was born in Tijuana, Mexico and grew up in San Diego. While attending college she was invited to study the bible and became a disciple in 1989. Soon after she caught the eye of a young engineer, Luis Mendez.He successfully pursued her and they were married in 1991.

Their two adult children are both disciples and Luis and Silvia also converted other members of their families. Luis left his career as an engineer when they were asked to serve in the ministry in San Diego and Mexico. They served the in the ministry for 15 years together. Following Luis’ sudden death in May of 2019, Silvia continues to serve with the women’s ministry in Mexico and San Diego.
