2 Corinthians 5:17,21 17Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here! 21God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.
We all have, at some point or the other, longed for a fresh start. There are myriad of reasons to why we reach such a juncture in our lives. But then we experience Christ, we study the Bible; we confess, repent, and get baptized. We have been born again! Like newborn babies, we get to do life all over again. Our sins are forgiven and our guilt and shame are washed away.
This happens only because God loved us so much that he made Jesus who was without sin to become our sin offering so that we can participate in the righteousness of Christ. So amazing is this grace that we are no more wretched, blind, and lost. We are favored, saved, and filled with light.
Since we have been made right with God “in Christ” and “through Christ” and “by Christ”, we need to be joyfully exalting our Lord and Saviour for the ultimate sacrifice of love. There is no need to go back to our old ways of viewing ourselves and others. Even if there is a difficult relationship, it is better to relinquish it to God and decide to not count their sin just as ours is no more counted by God.
A new creation with a growing understanding of the width, length, height and depth of God’s love (Ephesians 3:18) is bound to lead us to transformation with ever-increasing glory even as we grow in our ability to fix our eyes on the unseen yet eternal things.
So today…as you spend time with our loving heavenly father, offer thanksgiving for the new life you have, the new creation you are, and also see if there is any old thing that lingers and entangles, so that you can seek the strength of the Holy Spirit in your inner being to remain reconciled with God and that Christ may dwell in your heart.
