THE CHURCH FAMILY
Beatrice Igbuku
Lagos, Nigeria
My name Beatrice Igbuku, I am from the Lagos church in Nigeria West Africa, I have been a disciple for 27years and I am blessed with 3 wonderful children, 2 girls and a boy, more like 2 women and a man now.
Sadly after I had my last child through C section which was difficult for me, things took a downward turn, I had to go through another major surgery 3 months after his birth. I was still recovering when I was laid off my job, this weighed me down emotionally and affected my recovery. Just when I thought things couldn’t get any worse, my husband died, I was devasted. I became a widow recovering from a major surgery with no job and three children to cater for within 3 years.
As a widow meeting the basic needs of my family left me overwhelmed, as there was no source of income and I was still managing my health situation. I had no idea how to cope with the expenses of my children’s education. There were nights I would stay up crying and confused about what to do. I started selling second hand clothes on the streets, but that did not work well because of my health condition as I kept falling ill all the time.
God came through for me and my children when the church started the ASSISTANCE & CARE FOR CHILDREN ORPHANED & AT RISK (ACCORD) program which was a benevolence program of the Lagos church. The program offered skill acquisition training which I took part in and learnt some baking and pastry making skills. These skills enabled me to start up a pastry business and with God’s blessing I was able to meet some of my family needs.
The “Chance For Africa “ program is an educational grant from the US for less privileged children in the church. This was a huge relief towards my children’s education. My children’s school fees were paid for from elementary level to high school level. My daughters have finished their university education and currently work while my son is currently in the second in year in the university. My first daughter is married to a disciple and God has blessed me with a beautiful granddaughter through her.
Through these challenging years God has been faithful, rescuing me and my family through disciples from all over the world. This help build my faith in God because He sees and hears me at all time
